Calling all four-legged ‘Walkies’ fans and their owners! Join in the Wag Walk and take steps for rescue pets

On Sunday 27th September local animal welfare charity, Bath Cats and Dogs Home, will host Wag Walk, one of the biggest annual dog walks in Bath. This sponsored charity challenge welcomes all dogs and their owners as well as their friends and families. Around 100 dogs took part in our last Wag Walk event and the charity is hoping to beat that number in September and help raise £8k towards the care of rescue animals in need.

Bath Cats and Dogs Home rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes over 700 cats and dogs each year, who are unwanted, neglected or abandoned. The animal welfare charity takes in animals from Bath and North-East Somerset and parts of Somerset and Wiltshire.

Starting from the rescue centre in Claverton, Bath, the two walking routes feature beautiful countryside with a choice of a two-mile flat route or a five-mile walk along the National Trust Bath Skyline with more challenging terrain. All dogs who take part will receive a stylish ‘Wag Walk’ doggie bandana to wear on the walk and take home as a memento of the day.

The walk finishes back in the grounds of Bath Cats and Dogs Home where walkers can collect their dog-friendly goodie bags and enjoy the refreshments and activities available in the field.  Activities for canine companions will include Have-a-go agility with Active Agility and Have-a-go scentwork with Frome K9 plus Doggie portraits in Skylark Photography's Photobooth.  

To register for the sponsored Wag Walk visit Wag Walk charity challenge event Registration costs £15 for the first dog and £5 each for additional dogs, people walk for free. Top fundraisers will receive a special prize and every pound raised will be used to care for vulnerable dogs and cats at the Centre.  For example, £50 raised in sponsorship will help to keep a kennel open and ready for a lost, stray or abandoned dog in need of shelter.
