Chauntecleer and Pertelotte

Live Wire Theatre presents Dougie Blaxland’s fast, absurd, subtitled two-hander inspired by Chaucer, with two actors playing 24 characters in a ribald farmyard fable.

Presented by Live Wire Theatre

Loosely based on Chaucer’s Nun’s Priest’s Tale, Dougie Blaxland’s Chauntecleer & Pertelotte is a subtitled “Beasty Babel Fable” about anthropomorphic chickens, delivered in a playful hybrid of Chaucer-inspired language and nonsensical comic patter.

With two actors playing all 24 characters, the story follows how a jilted hen takes revenge on a faithless cockerel in a breakneck, ribald romp.
