This talk by Dr Tatiana Ivleva explores stories of same-sex relationships in the Roman world, looking beyond well-known figures to consider evidence from the far provinces of the Empire, including Roman Britain and areas such as Hadrian’s Wall.

Roman tombstones and monuments are examined to uncover suggestions of close bonds, including possible same-sex partnerships, showing how queer lives formed part of everyday life across the Roman world.
