Spring Half Term at the Egg Theatre

Half-Term Holiday entertainment at the egg theatre starts at the weekend with performances of Wanted: Rabbit, bringing hilarious comedy and slapstick to Bath from the Netherlands, for young audiences aged 3 years and over.

Appearing from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th February, Maas Theatre & Dance present this hugely entertaining show about a rabbit on the run. Chaos ensues when three police officers search for a bunny who has broken out of jail and the audience are called upon to help restore order.

On Monday 17th February, storytelling drawn from folklore blends with the contemporary, when a talented team from Somerset Storyfest present Hansel and Gretel - as you’ve never heard it before. 

This entertaining performance explores what happened after the children escaped from the witch and her house made of cake in the forest. Storyteller Michael Loader will be spinning spells of good and evil, whilst musicians Liz Purnell and Martin Solomon create a wicked brew of haunting melodies and devilish song on harp, accordion, dulcimer, trumpet and trombone. 

Audiences aged 5 years and over, can expect a hearty, cauldron’s cocktail of spicy stories, music, singing, a spot of wild dancing and plentiful participation, as Hansel and Gretel are chased by a cackle of flying witches through forests and mountains.

From Wednesday 19th to Saturday 22nd February, it’s all aboard as internationally renowned M6 Theatre Company bring their playful new production, Grandpa’s Railway to the egg, featuring a real working model railway and live music.

This brand new original production - recommended for children aged 5 years and over - takes family audiences on a journey of discovery as Grandma and Grandpa navigate a big change and rediscover a shared dream.

Producers of the show, Dot Wood and Gilly Baskeyfield explain: “In our new show, Grandpa discovers that although change can be scary, it can also take us on exciting new journeys. In a world of many adaptations, Grandpa’s Railway brings to the stage a brand new story which is a real play for little people. M6 strives to create theatre that is as high quality and rich as the best theatre for adult audiences.”

The creative team behind this vibrant production includes writer Mary Cooper (BBC Radio Four, Z-arts), Director Olwen May (RSC, Library Theatre) and composer Tayo Akinbode (RSC, National Theatre).
