TGtB Meets...Rebekah Roy

Rebekah Roy is one of Britains?s top fashion stylists and creative consultants. As well as working as a stylist at London Fashion Week, Rebekah is the UK Fashion Editor at The Untitled Magazine and the Fashion and Creative Director at Disorder UK. We sat down for a chat with her ahead of her gig at this year's Bath in Fashion.

Which are your favourite fashion brands?

I usually wear new British designers. As a stylist I’m in quite a unique position and most of the clothes that I wear are designed by people that I know and have worked with.

Where do you like to shop in Bath?

I love shopping in Bath, even when you're in the high street shops you feel like you're in a boutique. I have quite a few favourite shops, I really like Liz Cox’s handbags. I have a pink leopard print make-up bag that I use every day. One of my favourite shops is Grace & Mabel, I love that it’s owned by three sisters. I find that I can’t go in there without wanting to buy something - I bought a beautiful Paul Smith dress there once. I’ve also have a few pairs of shoes from Lux. From there it’s so easy to nip into the Loft for a piece of cake and check out Howling & Wolf, inevitably I find something there that I want!

Which shows are you most looking forward to styling at this year’s Bath in Fashion?

I’m quite excited to style Biba this year! The High Street show is always quite good fun and on trend, and then of course the Designer Boutique show always makes a great finale for the week.

Why do you think the people of Bath are so stylish?

I think people are so stylish in Bath because they're influenced by its architecture. Bath is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the people of Bath can only try and reflect that. Historically Bath has always had a love affair with fashion - it's been the place where the fashionable people of London have always gone to take a break and recuperate.

What or who influences your fashion choices?

My fashion choices are usually influenced by the designers that I'm working with and the things that I see along my travels.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is a bit quirky, a bit rock’n’roll with a hit of vintage plus I love a good hat - it's a true mix of things that I love. I love dresses with pockets and a good pair of boots.

Which item of clothing couldn’t you live without?

There are so many items that I couldn't and wouldn’t want to live without. I couldn't live without a great pair of pyjamas, I couldn't live without a good pair walking shoes, I’m partial to gloves and umbrellas and have large collections of leather jackets and hats.

Which celebrity's wardrobe would you love to have?

If I could have any celebrity’s wardrobe I would love to have Daphne Guinness’, she is one of the greatest collectors of fashion and she wears it so beautifully and elegantly.

What’s been your biggest fashion faux pas?

My biggest fashion faux pas and greatest moments probably overlap. I can often find myself wearing three or four, even five prints at a time and when it works it’s amazing and when it doesn’t – it really doesn’t and I just have to start over again!

What are your favourite trends for Spring/Summer 2014?

There are some great colour trends for spring and one of them is red – it’s a colour that almost everyone can wear and look good in. There are quite a few shades of blue in electric and pale tones, plus pink and oranges are continuing from AW13. I’m also seeing lots of yellow on the high street. Statement pieces will still be prevalent and you’ll see some boxy shapes that are easy and comfortable. We're seeing lots of flat shoes from colourful trainers to embellished Oxford shoes.
