Your Total Guide To lifestyle

A Winter's Night with Bath Boutique Stays

Bath hosts an array of wonderful attractions from the glorious Pump Rooms and Roman Baths to the beautiful botanical gardens at the Royal Victoria Park. It?s truly a lovely city to live in and an amazing city to visit.

With this in mind, it’s unsurprising that the Team at Total Guide to chose Bath as the destination for their annual Christmas Party, with accommodation at the luxury Bath Boutiques Stays apartments in the historic Jane Austen House, and brunch from the renowned Sam’s Kitchen and Deli.

Situated opposite the picturesque Holburne Museum and gardens at Sydney place you’ll find the only remaining family residence of the world famous author Jane Austen.

The house has been beautifully transformed into four luxurious apartments, with each room decorated in a modern and stylish way, including lots of original features still in place such as the beautiful bay windows and stunning feature fireplaces.

Each of the large apartments has been finished with a lavishly British feel, with large tan leather Chesterfields sofas and cosy arm chairs.

When we arrived for our stay, we were greeted at the apartment by the lovely Joe and given a tour.

There were 10 of us in total, and we were split between the four apartments. The house can sleep up to 16, so there was plenty of room.

The apartments were warm and brightly lit. With a couple of bottles of Prosecco chilling in the fridge, and the gorgeous scent of Bath Boutique candles drifting through the house, it was the perfect escape from the rainy cobbled streets outside.

We unloaded our luggage and began getting ready for our Christmas night out.

The apartments have been designed perfectly for groups; there’s ample room for getting changed or doing your makeup, lots of plugs for hair driers and straighteners, and a wonderful selection of luxury natural COWSHED toiletries.  We were able to enjoy getting ready without the hustle and bustle of tiny bathrooms and cramped bedrooms.

After our Christmas night out, which you can read about here, we walked back to the apartment. It’s in a really great central location; so there‘s no need for expensive taxis or unwanted blisters.

At night the apartments were cosy and inviting, with fresh milk in the fridge and specialty teas in the cupboard. We stayed up for hours huddled on their sofas drinking cups of tea and tucking into tasty take away pizza.

When we finally decided to call it a night, the beds were crisp and comfy, and there wasn’t a sound to be heard.

After a great night sleep, we all gathered in the first floor apartment around the Christmas tree for our annual Secret Santa and a delicious breakfast delivered from the award winning Sam’s Kitchen and Deli.

Sam’s Kitchen make the most amazing food. They specialise in scrummy seasonal dishes all hand-made using the freshest ingredients from local suppliers.

We were treated to freshly squeezed orange juice and pressed apple juice. We had home-made butter and almond croissants (which are the best in Bath), and a moreish selection of savoury croissants filled with cheese, Serrano ham and home-made chutney.

Amongst the fresh pastries was Sam’s famous crunchy granola - with yogurt and tangy berry compote, and  bircher muesli pots.

The highlight of the breakfast had to be the freshly made sausage rolls. The pastry was buttery and flaky, and the succulent meaty filling full of flavour and simply put; delicious. The food was the perfect cure for a late night of festive fun and Christmas cocktails.

Sam’s Kitchen has a wonderful café on Walcot Street which comes highly recommended. The café boasts an even bigger menu which includes dishes like baked eggs and chorizo, and baked salmon with eggs on sour dough toast. They can cater and deliver for breakfast, brunch, lunches and dinners and are the perfect choice for business meetings or social events.  They work closely with you to create a bespoke menu for your event or party.

The Team had a truly lovely stay and we can't wait to return for another visit and another almond croissants!
