Local Businesses Join the Vitality Bath Half Marathon

Let’s Hear it for Local Businesses at the 2017 Vitality Bath Half Marathon Corporate Challenge!

Not quite the full complement of ‘butchers, bakers and candlestick makers’ - but the 36 teams entered for this year’s Vitality Bath Half Corporate Challenge represent a wide cross section of businesses: from banking and finance to catering, construction, education, engineering, entertainment, gardening and landscaping, healthcare, information technology and computing, legal services, mailing services, management consultancy, medical research, manufacturing, publishing, research, retail, TV production and public utilities – plus a church, hospital, school, college, private estate and yes, a firm of local butchers!

Once again the Corporate Challenge has thrown up some intriguing head to heads between local business rivals. With 500 of the 15,000 places in the award-winning Vitality Bath Half Marathon specifically reserved for entrants representing business teams, this is a hugely popular part of race day and a race that everyone wants to win!

As always, there will be hot competition for bragging rights between local legal firms. Not only to see who will come out on top in the battle between Mowbray Woodwards, Royds Withy King, Veale Wasbrough and Batt Broadbent, but also in the battle between the sexes - can the girls beat the boys at Veale Wasbrough?

In the clash between the FTSE 100 giants, will Barclays triumph over IBM Bristol?

Who will go further in the field of education - Weston College or King’s School Bruton?

Can the ‘Concrete Conquerors’ at Stowell Concrete put up a solid performance against ‘Ezzys Angels’ butchers from Bristol Biltong?

Can Komedia Bath keep laughing all the way round both laps of the famous BATHALF course, or will their smiles turn to tears in the rise up to Queen Square?

Can Toppings of Bath booksellers really live up to their team name - ‘No Stopping Toppings’?

How will the ‘Cheesy Wotsits’ fashionistas at Shoon Trading maintain their elegance during the gruelling challenge pounding out 13 miles of tarmac?

Will St Philip and St James Church need help from ‘on high’ when the going gets tough?

Will Relish Catering really relish the challenge?

All will be revealed on Sunday 12th March when the Vitality Bath Half Corporate Challenge gets under way! The Corporate Challenge is a unique team building and fundraising opportunity for businesses and guests competing at one of the most popular city centre road races in the UK and the largest single day charity fundraising event in the South West. There is no other experience like it for building TEAMWORK across departments, COMPETITION between businesses and FITNESS within the workplace, whilst raising SERIOUS MONEY for charity.

Each Corporate Challenge entrant pledges to raise a minimum of £175 for a charity of their own choice, whilst competing for the separate men’s and women’s trophies. Last year’s Corporate Challenge teams raised just under £80,000 for a wide variety of charities, proving that a healthy bit of rivalry can be a top class fundraiser. Entrants will be tackling the 2-lap, traffic-free course on either side of the River Avon and can look forward to a superb atmosphere and a true-to-form Bath welcome of 40,000 spectators cheering them on every step of the way.

Entries to the 2017 Corporate Challenge for business teams are now sold out, as are general entries to the Vitality Bath Half which have sold out for 18 successive years.

Anyone still wishing to run for one of the nation’s favourite races can do so by running for one of the 130 official charities, of which Cancer Research UK is the Lead Charity and Dorothy House Hospice Care the official Local Charity.
