Komedia Bath to remain closed in December

KOMEDIA BATH will be keeping its doors until next year after the Tier 2 Government Restrictions set to be imposed on the city made it an unviable task for the theatre to open its doors when the current national lockdown ends.

Giving an update on their continue closure, Komedia Bath said:

"Due to current regional restrictions, Komedia Bath will not be operating during December. The stipulations of Tier 2 Coronavirus measures, namely no indoor mixing of households, restrictions on travel between Tiers and the requirement to provide a “substantial meal” alongside any alcoholic beverage sale, make a considerable number of our planned events unviable at present. 

"Going forward, we remain very optimistic that we will be able to return to running events in the new year, either by remodelling our operation to provide more shows with cabaret seating, so we can feasibly supply meals at shows, or pending a reduction in Bath’s Tier placement. 

"Over the coming weeks, our management team will be working hard behind the scenes to reprogram, remodel and revamp the venue and its offering so that we can open our doors in 2021, confident in our ability to provide excellent live entertainment in a Covid-safe way. We will provide an update on our exact re-opening date as soon as we possibly can. 

"In the meantime, we encourage customers to view what we have planned for the new year and to continue booking, safe in the knowledge that should an event not go ahead, they will be entitled to a full refund. "We would also like to reassure all customers who have booked for December events that they will be contacted directly over the coming days and be given the option to swap their tickets to a rescheduled date, or receive a credit note or refund. 

"The continued closure of the venue is yet another challenge for Komedia Bath and the team, and we would like to thank everyone who has helped us get through 2020. From funding, donations and messages of support, to volunteers and artists who have dedicated their time to live stream performances, the level of support we've received has been truly incredible, and we wouldn’t be in such a positive position without it. We can’t wait to get back to doing what we do best, and we look forward to seeing you all in 2021!"
