Bath Master Chef to give Masterclass at Hotel Expo

Renowned Head Chef and culinary genius, Daniel Moon of Ston Easton Park Hotel, is to give a cooking masterclass at one of the UK?s biggest event for hoteliers and the hospitality industry.

Due to take place on the 17th and 18th March 2015 at the BIC in Bournemouth, the Hotel and Catering Show is one of the UK’s longest running hospitality and food service events. Having taken place for over 50 years, the event is well known in the industry as one of the best places to discover new technology, learn new techniques and to do business.

The H&CS Skills Masterclass is a new addition for this year’s show. Here, visitors can join a host of celebrated chefs as they demonstrate their techniques and skills in a fun and informative manner. Classes are open to both visitors and professional chefs alike, who will undoubtedly be able to pick up some new ideas and inspiration, ready to take back to the kitchen.

Dan will be hosting two Chef Masterclasses on Wednesday 18th at the show, one at midday and the other at 3pm. Each class will be 30 minutes long and will showcase some of his trademark culinary creativity for others to learn from. For the first demonstration, Dan will cook Pickled Mackerel with Tomato Jelly and a Smoked Salmon Mouse, and for the second he will cook Wild Garlic Risotto, Sautéed Scallops and Parmesan Crackling.

Working alongside Dan for these highly anticipated Masterclasses are some of the UK’s most well-known and celebrated professional chefs. They include James Golding from THE PIG in the New Forest, Gary Richmond from River Cottage and Russell Brown from Sienna in Dorchester.

Ston Easton Park Hotel is well known as one of Somerset’s most luxurious accommodation choices. Boasting four red stars, this country house hotel sits amid 36 acres of stunning parkland, surrounded by Victorian kitchen gardens. Guests can stay in rooms adorned with antiques, or can visit for a high tea or a meticulously prepared evening meal.

In his role as Head Chef at Ston Easton, Dan exhibits an unrivalled passion for local, fresh food. His menus use traditional Westcountry ingredients, with around 60 per cent of the produce being sourced from the manors own kitchen gardens. He already holds two AA rosettes, and has aspirations of elevating his modern British cuisine to Michelin star status.

Prior to taking his role as Head Chef at Ston Easton, Dan has worked for a number of other high profile hotels and restaurants, including Homewood Park where he was awarded Restaurant of the Year by Bath Life in 2009. He was also awarded three AA rosettes at Homewood Park in 2010 and in 2002 claimed two rosettes at Hunstrete House. He was voted Von Essen Chef of the year in both 2008 and 2009, and secured an Acorn Award in 2011 from Caterer and Hotel Keeper.

The Skills Masterclass from Daniel Moon is sure to be a popular choice at the event, and with plenty of other speakers, exhibitors and traders to see, the two day event is set to be the highlight of the catering calendar for 2015.
