This talk examines why people in medieval Britain were fascinated by ghosts, demons and spirits, and what these stories meant in everyday life. Medieval supernatural tales were not only entertainment; they reflected ideas about death and the unknown, tensions between older pagan beliefs and Christian authority, and the perceived dangers beyond the village.

The session explores how supernatural stories shaped medieval culture and were used to support or challenge religious and social authority, followed by a Q&A.
