Snapped: Mayor of Bath Charity Concert Launch

A civic reception was held by the Mayor of Bath Councillor Paul Crossley to launch his charity concert ‘Sounds of the City’ that will be held in the Pavilion on April 7th.Business guests were invited to a drinks reception that was held in the Mayors Parlour at the Guildhall. To help with the concerts fundraising sponsorship packages have been created and local businesses have shown a great interest in supporting the concert as sponsors.

With business sponsorship support this will enable monies raised at the concert to be given to the Mayors chosen three very worthwhile charities. TV Presenter Martin Roberts attended the launch and has agreed to MC the concert.

The charities that will benefit from the concert are The Mayor of Bath’s Relief fund (that supports local Bath residents during hard time, this fund is the last resort for most that have already exhausted all other channels such as Social Security, Social Services and other local charities). The Martin Roberts Foundation (The Foundation is currently setting up a CIC to initially allow the Foundation to raise funds to print and distribute the children’s book that Martin has written Sadsville to all 8/9 yr olds in the UK. In the longer term the Foundation’s objectives are to give charitable support for children & young people), and GLL (A charitable social enterprise working locally delivers leisure, health and community services. GLL runs sport and legacy development, health intervention and education, as well as offering the GLL Sports Foundation, one of the largest independent support programmes for talented young athletes in the UK).

The Mayor said “I am delighted to be working with the Pav and local musicians to put on a concert with a great line up of artists from the Bath area. It will be a great night. It is also fantastic to be working in partnership with the Pavilion team and local TV star Martin Roberts who is also launching his new charitable foundation. So in addition to a night of music and dancing we hope to raise money to be helping vulnerable families and children in our city”.

Concert organiser and performer Clyve is a Bath born soul recording artist, also residing in New York and will headline the Sounds of the City concert, along with some of the city’s finest performers including The Bellefleurs and Steve Robinson. Clyve said “It’s such an honour to be asked to perform at this amazing event and even more so, to raise money for some incredible charities”. “There are some exceptional talents in this city, which will always be my home, and the concert will be a very special event indeed, it is such a privilege to have been asked by the Mayor to perform at this very special event. A big thanks to the Mayor for coming up with this unique idea – Go get your tickets now”

Supporting the Mayors event is former Mayor of Bath Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst MBE who runs an events business in the City and is well known for supporting many charities. Loraine is coordinating all the administration for the concert.

Tickets are being sold by Bath Box office and for an early bird price of £10 per ticket until 1st March when the price will be £12.50 with a price of £15 if bought on the door on the concert night. www.bathboxoffice.org.uk
