How Long Will It Take? Stress-Free Stag Do Planning in Less Than a Month

Hopefully the groom-to-be won’t drop it on you at the last minute that you are the best man and therefore in charge of organising the stag party.

But even if he asks you on the same day he proposes and gives you over a year to organise it, you don’t really want it to drag on for that long.

Ideally you will want to plan and book everything straight away and then you can just start counting down the days and doing any last minute bits – like buying the novelty fancy dress he will spend the weekend in!

So, how can you plan in less than a month and ensure that it is stress-free? Sounds impossible – but it is much easier than you might think…

Week 1: Start organising as early as you can…

It is more than likely, as you have been chosen for such an important job, that you are the best and oldest friend of the groom-to-be and therefore know him better than anyone else. So, you are bound to have some idea of what he would like and perhaps you have already thought about or discussed what his stag party will entail.

So, start organising it as soon as you can – even if this means it is 11 months ahead of the party itself. The earlier you start the more time you do have to re-think and make changes should anything go wrong.

Plus, if he tells you what he would like or makes any hints, these will be fresh in your mind – and, if he doesn’t, now is the time to start doing some detective work!

Week 2: Make a plan…

If you haven’t already, now's the time to start making a plan – and to do this you need to answer a few questions:

  • When will the stag do be?
  • Where will it be?
  • How long will it be for?
  • Who is coming?
  • What will you be doing?
  • What needs booking and how much will it cost?

Week 3: Invite the guest and get them to commit with a deposit…

Now you know exactly what the party will entail it is time to invite the guests. You will be able to give them all the information and with plenty of warning they should be able to commit. But, this can be the hardest part – people don’t reply or tell you they aren’t sure and will get back to you. To avoid this stress of this,

tell them you need an answer and a deposit – so they can’t drop out at a later date. This doesn’t have to be the full amount, just enough to secure them as a guest and knowing the activities you have planned, they won’t want to miss out!

Week 4: Use a company to plan the weekend…

Now you have had the fun task of deciding what you will do – why not hand the hard work over to someone else? Companies such as Adventure Connections enable you to simply enter the location, date, and number of 'stags' and they will help you to build the perfect weekend.

This is also helpful if you still have no idea what you want to do because they will offer you up activities you may never have considered such as extreme dodgeball or clay shooting. This will save you hours of sitting on the phone trying to coordinate all the activities to be in the right place, at the right time, for the right number of people.

That’s it – it really is that simple – now you can sit back and wait to see the look on the groom's face when you surprise him with the best stag do ever.
