Calling all four-legged ‘Walkies’ fans and their owners!
Join in the Wag Walk and take steps for rescue pets.
On Sunday 3rd September local charity, Bath Cats and Dogs Home, will host Wag Walk, one of the biggest annual dog walks in Bath. This fundraising challenge welcomes all dogs and their owners as well as keen walkers without a dog. Last year, around 90 dogs took part in Wag Walk and the charity is hoping to beat that number in September and help raise £8k towards the care of unwanted or mistreated rescue animals.
Starting from the rescue centre in Claverton, Bath the two walking routes feature beautiful countryside with a choice of a two-mile flat route staying close to the Home or a five-mile route along the National Trust Bath Skyline with more challenging terrain. All dogs who take part will receive a stylish ‘Wag Walk’ doggie bandana to wear on the walk and take home as a memento of the day.
The walk finishes back in the grounds of Bath Cats and Dogs Home where walkers can collect their dog-friendly goodie bags and enjoy the refreshments and activities available in the field. To register for the Wag Walk visit www.bathcatsanddogshome.org.uk/events/wag-walk
Registration costs £15 per dog or £5 for walkers without a dog. All doggie entrants will receive a personalised fundraising pack so to make the miles count get sponsored for completing this walking challenge.
Top fundraisers will receive a special prize and every pound raised will be used to care for vulnerable dogs and cats at the Home. For example, £50 raised in sponsorship will help to keep a kennel open and ready for a lost or abandoned dog in need of shelter.

Our aim is for all rescue dogs to have a happy future with a loving family of their own so if you’re looking for a new pet please consider adopting from us. Every step of their rehabilitation process relies on donations from our wonderful community so please join us at the Wag Walk on 3rd September.”
Emma Wyatt, from Corsham in Wiltshire, a supporter of Bath Cats and Dogs Home said: “I’m looking forward to taking part in the Wag Walk with my partner and our three Whippets. My family are from Bath and I grew up near the Home and have always had great respect for the work of the Home as the staff really understand the behaviour needs of rescue dogs and cats. They also do an incredible job of matching the animals up for adoption with new owners who have the right lifestyle to suit that individual cat or dog. I wish them success with the Wag Walk and I hope lots of local dog walkers will join me in getting involved.”
Andrea Parkes, from Bath, who works as a volunteer at Bath Cats and Dogs Home said: “I’ve volunteered at the Wag Walk many times and it is always a fabulous event which walkers, dogs and their owners absolutely love.??There is something for every age and ability and it’s a wonderful opportunity for adopters to return and show their dog’s progress.? What a great way to help raise funds for the Home while enjoying the Bath countryside.”
Bath Cats and Dogs Home rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes cats and dogs who are unwanted, neglected, or mistreated, taking in animals from Bath and North-East Somerset and parts of Somerset and Wiltshire.
