Share and Repair Launches new shop on George Street

Guests were given tours of the phenomenally successful Share and Repair new shop and introduced to the four services on offer: Repair Cafés & sessions, The Library of Things, HOW TO workshops and new initiative HomeKIT where good quality donated electrical items are shared with partner charities to be redistributed to low-income households.

The charity will continue to offer a Library of Things where borrowers can access everything from a mitre saw to a body board, or have their favourite radio fixed, at one of the popular Repair Café sessions.

Share and Repair founder Lorna Montgomery, says: ‘We are delighted to share our wonderful new premises with you. We are an organisation that has grown through lockdown and as such, offer a very practical and logical way for our community to make a difference to the environment we live in.’

‘We are very grateful to Bath and North East Somerset Council for allowing us to prove our concept and realise that what we offer would be sorely missed. We are incredibly grateful that we now have a stronger presence on George Street can give the people who haven’t made it back into Bath in the last year a chance to benefit from our services. Our beautiful Autumn window display is thanks to Stu and Hannah from Bath Carnival with support from the Council’s High Street Renewal Team and WECA.

‘We will now have the space to deliver more of our workshops on site. These could involve how to use your sewing machine, how to use hand and power tools or how to maintain your bike.

‘We are also very excited to announce our “how to reduce your carbon footprint” in-store workshop as well as our new programme aimed at primary school-age children.

Share and Repair would like to thank Revolutions for all their help and good will and for hosting the launch event of the new Share and Repair shop.
