Review: A Sweet Treat at The Real Italian Ice Cream Company

“A delightful thrill on a brisk Autumnal Day“

A visit to The Real Italian Ice cream Company in Bath is certainly not only to be associated with the summer months. We visited on a brisk October early evening while looking for a sweet treat.

On entering, we were simply bowled over by the vast array of real Italian Gelato and desserts made freshly on the premises daily by real Italians and using real Italian ingredients.

The colours are a delectable feast to the eyes and the luscious aromas of melted chocolate, freshly cooking waffles and freshly made crepes floating in the air.

From warming coffee and hot chocolate drinks, homemade gelato sundaes, freshly baked belgian waffles, freak shakes, freshly made crepes, affogato, cookie dough and homemade real Italian ice cream all with selections of sweet and savoury toppings and sauces, the menu itself is truly scrumptious and suitable to every taste imaginable.

Although we could take out or have it delivered, we opted to eat in and decide from the vast menu over a cappuccino, espresso and hot chocolate oozing with fresh cream and sprinkled with marshmallows whilst watching the families, couples, friends and takeaway delivery drivers all themselves chatting with a flurry of excitement and choice.

After much deliberation, we opted for the “biscoffle”, a freshly baked Belgian waffle topped with biscoff spread, biscoff ice cream, crushed lotus biscoff, mini fudge cubes, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. Literally oozing with rich flavour, it was so warming and inviting.

The “kinderfull” freshly made crepe was cooked delightfully directly in front of us, filled with chunks of Kinder Bueno pieces and a generous drizzle of Nutella and topped with whipped cream was in itself a craft of delicious creation and thoroughly heavenly. 

The Homemade Gelato 'build your own' Sundae with lemon and chocolate ice cream was delicious, with a beautiful smooth texture and a flavour that is a pleasurable delight to the senses.

There is clearly such Italian passion and creativity that goes into all creations which oozes through to the taste. The portions are extremely generous and filling and we can't wait to return!
