Forthcoming Films for Bath Cinema Lovers

We’re a city that loves a trip to the cinema here in Bath, and that’s represented by just how many great options there are dotted throughout the region. Whether it’s experiencing the latest blockbusters at the Odeon in the Kingsmead Entertainment Centre, or catching a classic in the setting sun at Bath Racecourse over summer or even getting to stretch out and enjoy films in the luxury comforts of Tivoli, there’s something for everyone.

After a few difficult years for the industry, and with the rise of streaming services, it seemed like the days of watching a movie on the big screen might very much have bitten the dust. Fortunately, it seems that cinemas have survived the struggle, and so it’s only right to get back out there and enjoy their delights.

Here are some of the most intriguing-looking forthcoming films, for Bath cinema lovers to revel in.

The Lost King

Finding the remains of one of the most infamous kings in British history beneath a Leicester car-park might seem like the wacky story of a comedy film, but it genuinely happened back in 2012, when King Richard III’s bones were finally found. Nevertheless, comedic royalty Steve Coogan decided that the tall tale deserved the cinematic treatment anyway, and helped co-write The Lost King.

Due out on 7th October, it will be a comedy-drama, sure to both tickles the funny bone, as well as tug on the heartstrings. The film reunites Coogan, who also stars in the flick as well as co-writing, with director Stephen Frears, who was behind the camera for their impressive team-up on the 2013 drama Philomena. Definitely one for those who need a good chuckle.

Halloween Ends

As we rapidly approach autumn, it will shortly be time for the pumpkins to get rolled out, and the spookiest night of the year will be once again upon us. One of the best experiences around Halloween is to go out and watch a scary movie, and this year won’t be any different, as the original slasher series is set to come to an intense conclusion soon.

The suitably named Halloween franchise has been frightening viewers since all the way back in 1978 when cult director John Carpenter invented a whole new genre of film with his terrifying tale. Since then, the series has exploded into the cultural zeitgeist, with there being a plethora of sequels and a whole range of video games.

There’s even been a virtual online slot machine, which is developed by Microgaming and is available at online casinos around the world. One of these is LeoVegas Casino, which is chosen by the experts over at Casino Reviews, as one of the best sites to get no deposit bonuses that are available in New Zealand. Their list is both well-researched and regularly updated, constantly providing visitors with the highly sought-after combination of no deposit bonuses, and loads of free spins. It will grant you that winning feeling, without even needing to reach for your wallet.

The thirteenth film in the series is due on the 14th of October and promises to be a thrilling end to the freaky franchise. Halloween Ends will again star Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead role, as she desperately tries to finally end Michael Myers’s reign of terror. Make sure your calendar is clear to witness if over 40 years of terror can be stopped.

Avatar: The Way of Water

James Cameron’s epic Avatar broke all box-office records when it was released in 2009, and it now stands top of the list of highest-grossing movies of all time. The CGI animated epic showcased a whole new virtual world to masses of people and elevated exactly what computer graphics could bring to the silver screen. It also came at the height of the 3-D explosion, with crowds being amazed as the action leaped off the screen.

The world has been waiting for over a decade for the sequel, and it’s been a running joke that it might never appear. However, the continuation of the story of the inhabitants of Pandora has finally come to fruition, and the saga is set to carry on from 16th December, with Avatar: The Way of Water. Get yourself down to the pictures to see if it can somehow live up to everyone’s stratospheric expectations.
