Sherlock Comes To Bath
Bath hosted the BBC?s massively popular detective series, Sherlock on Monday 2nd February with the help of Bath & North East Somerset Council.
Queen Street provided the perfect period setting for what promises to be a spectacular scene in the Sherlock Special.
The Council’s Film Office offered up Queen Street as a location when the production scouted the West of England and co-ordinated with Highways and Parking to ensure that the road closure, set dressing and parking requirements all proceeded comfortably.
Ben Mangham, Sherlock's Location Manager said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to bring "Sherlock" to Bath. Bath is one of my go-to places when filming period pieces, with its eye catching architecture, it is a city that just shines on screen. Combined with first rate film officers and a film friendly council - it’s one to revisit time and time again. Thank you Bath!"
B&NES Council’s Cabinet Member for Sustainable Development, Cllr Ben Stevens (Lib Dem, Widcombe), said: “This is a great start to 2015. Filming brings substantial economic benefits. More and more people visit Bath to see the locations used in TV and film dramas, this will be a welcome addition to what is a long and illustrious list.”
Many of the series' devoted fans turned up to watch as they have done at locations throughout the West Country..
