What’s on in Bath this Half Term

Fear not, parents in Bath, because whatever the weather, come rain or shine, we’ve got you covered.

We have put together a check sheet of things to do locally that should keep the kids happy this half term. And we all know if that the kids are happy, the parents are happy!

Get Sporty

First up, Better at BANES, or as many of us know it, the Bath Sports & Leisure Centre. Tiring the kids out can seem like mission impossible but there is now so much to do there, Mum and Dad, that we think you’ll be on to a winner.

Found on North Parade it has had a massive upgrade this year and we’d thoroughly recommend it to you.

You can now, play badminton, basketball, football, go to the gym, take a class, and go swimming.

New to the set-up is Extreme Trampolining, and tenpin bowling. So that’s pretty much all the age groups covered with soft play for the toddlers to boot, all under one roof. Check out the website for best times, multiple offers and their membership deals.

It’s also worth remembering that there are other locations across the city offering other sporting opportunities; the Bath Approach Golf Course, Bath Pavillion (check out the half term roller skating sessions), Culverhay Leisure Centre (with a similar offering to the main site), more golf at Entry Hill, and Odd Down Sports Centre with their impressive astro-turf fabulous cycle track, as opened by Sir Chris Hoy no less.

Also, check out the Komedia programme who have the funsters Super Pirates scheduled for some fun time play during the week.

Halloween

If it’s a theme you love, then there are plenty of spooky goings on across Bath too so grab those face paints and get the fancy dress out.

Avon Valley Country Park have a Wizard Adventure, whilst Cheddar Gorge has it’s annual Halloween Spooktacular.

The American Museum are having Week of the Dead Fiesta at Claverton; it’s a family fun trail with prizes to be won and Prior Park also has a Halloween Trail through it’s Capability Brown landscaped grounds.

Culture Trip

It’s no coincidence that Museums Week in Bath falls 21-29 October. Many of our centrally based museums have craft and events on designed to get you through the doors. Some are free and some charge for materials. Here’s our top picks:

Victoria Art Gallery cover arts and crafts for ages 3-11, with arts and crafts being freely available, plus other scheduled activities to be announced.

The Holburne Museum has family workshops and a FREE drop in session on 24th and 25th.

No.1. Royal Crescent has a design a photo frame craft during half term week and Bath Abbey invites you to get involved with their conservation efforts.

The Roman Baths also invites you to get crafty, by making a monstrous Gorgon’s head badge. (Remember to use your Discovery Card if you are a Bath Residence).

David Walliams’ Awful Auntie is at the Theatre Royal Bath for a few performances and the The Egg theatre offers Mr Clement & The Weather on 23rd & 24th October.
